A wonderful start to your few days of cycling.
Can you remind me what a ‘practise window’ is?

The “practice window” is the one that Jean Michel has enlarged in the laundry as a practice for making the much bigger windows (from scratch) in the kitchen.
What beautiful weather! It looks, rather unjustly, much nicer than here. (When I lived somewhat near your area, I think it rained for about 2 years straight…)

The weather was exceptionally good. We had been consulting the weather report for several days and, although it wasn’t that warm, it was perfect for cycling in the afternoon.
The splendour of those birds is matched only by their terrible voices. An aunt had the crazy idea of introducing a couple to a not entirely suitable back garden and everyone nearly went mad with the noise. In their native habitats they’re drowned out by the gibbering of monkeys and goodness knows what else. That highly picturesque but very flat terrain is most enviable for amateur cyclists, because having to drag up one steep hill, then tear down half out of control only to repeat the process, takes quite a lot of the edge off the pleasure.

I was a bit worried about the noise, actually, but during the night we didn’t hear them at all. Their cry does sound a lot like monkeys.
Flat terrain has its advantages and disadvantages. Long hours along a canal tend to give you you a very sore rear end! I don’t mind hills once the season gets going but I definitely prefer flat bike routes for the first month or so!

Wow! that oratory is really something. I’ve never heard of it, so thanks for introducing it.
Yes, I can’t understand why I couldn’t remember it – maybe it was closed the first time … I love mosaic work and it is quite stunning.

A beautiful area- the mosaic in that oratory is spectacular!
I’ve never heard the vocalizations of peacocks. I’ll have to look some up.
Peacocks sound remarkably like monkeys. I should have thought to make a video like the one I made of our cuckoos recently.
