The basilica is amazing. Even with misty conditions, the landscape shots really work beautifully.

The churches are not wanting for gilt embellishment or sumptious paintings.

I love the baroque churches in Austria and Germany for that reason. And they are often very plain on the outside.

We are there right now! Yes, I’ve been shocked at how quiet it is and at his many little shrines there are. We’re biking to Vienna.

I hope you have good weather. We are now in Bamberg and it’s really too chilly to bike though there are lots of possibilities here. Did you see my posts from two years ago about cycling along the Danube? Just type Danube or cycling in Germany in the search box. One thing we’ve found is that the ferries seem to have stopped so you probably need to check on that.
