What an absolutely magnificent outing, under blue skies. You can certainly cover greater distances on a bike than on foot. The upkeep on the gardens must be phenomenal.

That is why I love cycling so much – I find it’s just the right pace. As you say, the upkeep on the gardens must be phenomenal. This summer must have been particularly expensive because of the lack of rain.
Bonjour Rosemary, sorry it’s been so long since I last made contact though I have followed your blogs via social media! This looks a delightful cycling trip. I wanted to get in touch at this point to send very best wishes at this terrible time for France and especially Paris. The events recently have been heartbreaking and shocking – there simply are no words that one can say but you are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care Rosemary (Le Chic En Rose)

Bonjour Rosemary. Thank you for your kind message. It is a strange atmosphere at the moment. It’s as though life is suspended.
Yes I can well imagine Rosemary. I have a friend who lives in Viroflay near Paris (I think that is in the Versailles area) and he says the same thing and what a shock it has all been. Our younger daughter, who is now living in London, says she has never seen armed police at the underground station entrances or on the tube trains before – it is all rather surreal. We hope that the situation will normalise as soon as possible, take care 🙂
Those gardens are amazing!
They are, aren’t they?
I enjoy your blog immensely. The photos on your ride are beautiful. I can’t wait to do some of the rides you have done. Next year. Happy cycling.
Thank you so much! I certainly hope you enjoy your stay in the Loire. June and July are perfect for cycling – you don’t have to worry about sunset!
What a delightful trip – and the gardens! I will put Villandry on my list for the next time I am in the Tourraine.
Yes, many people don’t know about Villandry.
