Thank you for this lovely post. I am lucky enough to be Susie’s publisher and am a huge fan as well. “Susie has an inimical way of writing, both poetical and down-to-earth at the same time.” – just love that summing up of her unique style…

Hi Stephanie. I can understand you’re a fan! I’m glad you like my post.
I’m a big Kindle fan AND a Susie Kelly fan, having read all her books about her travels around France. They are very entertaining and always provide plenty of giggles. I loved The Valley of Heaven and Hell, especially as I learnt so much more of Louis and Marie Antoinette’s story. Now I’d better get a copy of I Wish I Could Say I’m Sorry.
Two other authors you might like to check out are Karen Wheeler, an English woman who writes about moving to France and Susan Cutsforth, an Aussie who writes about buying and renovating a holiday home in France.
Happy reading!

Carolyn, we have so much in common! Thank you for the Karen Wheeler and Susan Cutsforth suggestions.
I had borrowed Susan Cutsforth’s book ‘Our House is not in Paris’ from our local library via their on-line service, which I have used for over 12 months. Sadly something went wrong with my site and the book is lost. Very frustrating.

Helen, how frustrating. i can remember leaving D.H. Lawrence’s Rainbow in a train about 3 pages from the end. By the time I found another copy, i couldn’t remember the rest of the story so had to read it again! Can’t you get it again from the library’s on-line service? I don’t know how that works.
The actual download site seems to have frozen on my end. I have been to the library twice to get it sorted but no luck so far.
3 pages from the end! How FRUSTRATING.
Thanks for this Rosemary. Just the sort of book / books I like to read. Another interruption to blog writing.
Hi Helen, let me know how you enjoy them. But don’t give up the blog altogether – I’m waiting to see all the places you went to in Europe this year!
I’ll get there slowly.

We do indeed, Rosemary.
Here are a few more suggestions, too: http://www.holidaystoeurope.com.au/home/resources/european-travel-blog-news-travel-tips/784-satisfy-your-european-travel-desires-with-my-holiday-reading-guide. (Feel free to remove this link if you’d rather not have links in your comments!)
Thank you for all those suggestions Carolyn. I’ll follow them up. No problem about keeping the links.
