Happy New Year, Rosemary.
An interesting look back on a busy year. What sort of electric bike did you decide on?

Hi Gaynor, after a discussion with cyclist from Chamonix (mountain!) who rode her bike to work every morning, we *bought German Kalkhof power bikes, with a torque of 70 kN/m from a shop in Orléans. There are 9 gears and 3 settings: “eco”, “sport” and “power”. The battery has an autonomy of 70 to 120 km depending on how often you use the “sport” and “power” settings. The battery is removable and takes about 8 hours to charge when empty. Price: 2500 euro. We got a 400 euro subsidy from the Loir-et-Cher regional council. We have talked to many people who bought much cheaper bikes who are not satisfied with them, particularly when the battery is at the back. Ours is in the middle.
Thanks for this information, Rosemary.
I’m thinking of getting a powered bike as Tim is an avid cyclist and it would be nice to join him more. When the children were young we cycled together a lot and there are some lovely routes to explore.
Bon continuation…

Then having a power bike is an excellent way to join Tim. You will be able to keep up without any problem.
Happy New Year to you too! You two were a great addition to our traffic jam presence. I hear the organisers are planning to do it again in Blois but can’t remember if it’s this year or next. You will definitely be invited if we are going 🙂
What a wonderful, if busy year you have had. Totally enjoyed the recap. I had forgotten your visit to Cesky, which I love. Fabulous new destinations with your powered bikes. So lovely to see your family Christmas photo. Have a fantastic 2018.

I’m sorry Helen. I didn’t realise I hadn’t replied. A wonderful 2018 to you to!
So good to catch up with your travel itineraries in 2017. It seems you had a pretty busy year biking your way around Italy and other European countries. I figure your new electric bikes are less tiring. I didn’t know you work full time now. That’s too bad that you have less time to write. Hopefully you’ll find the time to keep this inspirational blog alive. It’s always a pleasure to read about your adventures. All the best on 2018 and happy trails!

Hi Anda, thank you! I have always worked full-time – I just seemed to have more free time for blogging! Maybe we’ll get over your way sometime. My daughter is talking of living in California for a while!
Happy New Year, Rosemary.

Thank you for sharing your travels.
Wish we could do half of that, very jealous, but great work,
Cheers Sharon…
Great travels, great pictures, but I really loved this one:
“Jean Michel and I dressed for the part”
well done.
Cheers Penny…
Hi Rosemary,
Especially loved the photo of the tourist trip in the 1953 Citroën Traction Avant. Sounds like a really fun tour.
