  1. I have to admit I was very disappointed when I went there a few weeks ago. I was expecting there to be entertainment as well but there was nothing that night. The cafés and bars were packed and I couldn’t get a seat. I do however think it is a great place for groups of people to get together for a picnic. What is the general opinion of Parisians? I have heard some comments about all this money being spent and complaints about the road closures causing more traffic problems for the benefit of few people. The people there though were obviously really enjoying it.

    What a lovely tour!

  3. Thanks for sharing these photos, Rosemary….I had just recently spotted something about these ‘berges’ online but wasn’t sure exactly what they were…and it also said that they would be shutting or something…is it only open in summer?

Hi Jill. I’ve checked out the official website and as far as I can make out, the Berges are closed permanently to traffic. However, you may be thinking of Paris Plage which is set up for a month every summer from mid-July to mid-August on the right bank. During that time, the “voies sur berges” are closed to traffic. All the riverside roads are also closed to traffic every Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.
