The wrought iron gate — is Herman Bollé connected to the Le Mans Bollée family of bell founders and makers of wind turbines do you know? The spelling is slightly different, but that might just be changing countries. I looked him up in Wikipedia and he’s just described as Franco-German in origin.

No mention about any connection in Le Routard which, considering their French biais 🙂 probably means there isn’t.
Shame you kinda got ripped off. I’ve stayed in a couple of Airbnb apartments there and they were renovated and lovely and only around 30-40 euros per night. I’ve also stayed at a 4 star hotel near the train station for about what you paid. And that meal was a complete ripoff. You should have asked me, I know lots of nice places in Zagreb. 🙂

The problem is that we are often looking for accommodation late the night before which meant that I couldn’t contact you and for airbnb it’s a little late as well. The flat was OK on the whole and very well situated. It’s always a mistake to follow the advice in the Routard. We usually choose our own restaurants but I realise as we’re getting older, we need more time to adjust to new places. Also I am the only one who speaks English so have to do all the negotiating. I can’t fault our contact who fitted in with us perfectly.
Beautiful shots. I’d love to see that part of Europe, though at the moment, very chaotic.
My favourite in this series is the cathedral.
So far, so good.
All very interesting.

Thanks Karlfest.
