How kind of him! They are a great plant to have in the garden. A favourite with certain wool gathering solitary bees, who will defend their patch vigorously (not against people but against other bees). Great fun to watch.
A lovely post . Yes Stachys features big in my garden here in Melbourne . It does well in dry heat .

As it gets warmer here in summer we need more and more plants that do well in dry heat.

We call it ‘lamb’s ears’ here in Victoria, Australia, and it has violet flowers.

I would like the violet one. Maybe they have it here too.

Hi Rosemary,
I hope you had a lovely start to 2023!
I first visited your blog in 2020 when I was researching the Loire Valley Châteaux as part of our (my husband and I) France holiday itinerary. I am glad I found it as it answered a lot of my questions.
As I couldn’t find a recent post for 202 2or 2023 on your blog, I wondered if you are still running your château B&B as I am interested in booking a stay but could not find any booking process on your website.
I would love to hear from you as we hope to visit the Loire Valley in May – June 2023. What advise do you have about visiting the châteaux in this period? I have so many more questions but hope to hear from you soon.
