Oops! That’s quite funny! My husband has managed to order us some strange things with his basic Spanish. His most common mistake is ordering rosé instead of red wine. Although, I like both so it doesn’t matter that much really.

Yes, you have to say “vino tinto”. When I said that in one place, the waiter checked that I knew I was ordering red!
