  1. Hello. Thank you for your interesting post. I smile to hear you saying that about a PC.

I’m a Mac person, and for so long I was apologising for using a Mac! Help desks would say they couldn’t help me, applications wouldn’t work, IT guys gave me a hard time. Even friends teased. I was such an outcast. I freelanced for a while at a design studio where they had PCs, and another designer was watching me closely to see if I hit the Mac style shortcuts, instead of the PC ones… and eventually I admitted to her that I preferred the Mac, and she became quite hostile.
So after that treatment I am now delighted that Mac’s have become popular, but I remain scarred. I think that is the reason Mac users are so defensive. We can finally talk about it.
I don’t think the computer industry was aware how personal it had become. Like racism, one doesn’t notice it exists unless one is coloured.
The next generation won’t have these issues. They’ll just get on with their work!
And good luck with the fireplace renovations!

Wishing Relationnel all the best with the fire places 🙂 Your woods are looking so pretty..those are the colors of Autumn I miss in Qld. x

  3. Those are some substantial fireplaces!

I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be back in Paris until the beginning of January. I was hoping that we would be able to get together in the near future. Now it looks as if our trip to the d’Orsay (or wherever) will have to wait a couple more months but at least your balcony will be in pristine condition. And isn’t it good that you don’t have to do the reparations yourself!

  4. […] Well, in my last post, I said that we could maintain an even 19°C in Closerie Falaiseau, our 400-year old home in Blois, but I spoke too soon. Also, I’m not convinced that 19°C is really warm enough when you’re sitting at a computer for long periods! To allow for the BIG FIREPLACE OPERATION, I’ve moved my office into the guest room. I still have more or less the same view, only a little more restricted, but when the living room is at 20°C, the bedroom is only at 17°C. Maybe it’s because there is carpet over the heated floor in the bedrooms. Who knows? The view from my current office […]
